Finishing with a 6-10 record in 2015, the Giants failed once again to make the postseason. While New York hasn't had a playoff appearance since 2011 when they won the Super Bowl, they still feature a couple of stalwarts from the team, the most notable of which is quarterback Eli Manning. Manning had one of his best seasons in 2015 and earned his fourth Pro Bowl selection for his efforts. Manning has been the linchpin of the Giants offense ever since he was drafted in 2004. [+]

And now the star quarterback has the luxury of developing an even better relationship with one of the best wide recievers in the league -- third-year starter Odell Beckham Jr.

Coming off of his best season to date, Beckham is one of the best athletes in professional sports. The former Madden poster boy set a record for most receptions through two seasons at 176 and combined for 25 touchdowns over the last two years. Beckham has been the best player on the Giants for the last two seasons but will need more help in 2016 to take a bit of the pressure off. Former Pro Bowler Victor Cruz must do more to complement Beckham. Though Cruz hasn't returned to his Pro Bowl form in some time, he is still a valuable asset in mentoring younger players like 2016 second round draft pick Sterling Shepard.

Shepard will be relied on mainly as the second or third option. The Giants also hope to see offensive tackle Ereck Flowers develop into a premier left tackle they envisioned after selecting him ninth overall during the 2015 draft. If Flowers can mature to that level, Manning will have more time to get the ball downfield to Beckham, Cruz and Shepard.

As far as the backfield goes, the running back tandem of Rashad Jennings and Shane Vereen return in 2016. The platoon was solid last season but they are more of a way to take the pressure off of Manning and the pass, which is the main offensive attack weapon for New York.

How To Win At New York Giants Betting

In 2015, the Giants only had one player make the Pro Bowl, but cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is one of the best at his position in the NFC.  The veteran has 24 career interceptions and notched three in 2015 to go along with his career-high 58 combined tackles. The cornerback is the captain of the Giants secondary and a key factor for the team in 2016.

The team added a couple of rookies, first round pick Eli Apple and third-rounder Darian Thompson of Boise State, to help take the load off of DRC. Neither is expected to immediately start, but they'll provide solid depth in the secondary to complement Rodgers-Cromartie and fellow start Janoris Jenkins.

Head coach Tom Coughlin added a big piece to his defensive arsenal when the Giants picked up former Miami Dolphins standout Olivier Vernon during the 2016 offseason. The deal New York inked with the defensive end made him one of the highest paid players at his position and will help address a big weakness along the defensive line for the team.

Vernon's addition to the Giants will give a prime complement to edge rusher Jason Paul-Pierre. Grinders Louis Nix and Damon Harrison figure to feature in the mix more this season along the defensive tackle position.
