The Cleveland Indians hold the longest drought in Major League Baseball, but that may soon come to an end. Founded in 1894 before undergoing many name changes, the club settled in Cleveland as the Indians in 1915 and have been American League contenders ever since. The Tribe own a pair of World Series titles — its first coming in 1920 after Cleveland defeated the Brooklyn Dodgers in the final.  The club’s second title came 28 years later when Cleveland ousted the Boston Braves in six games to capture the 1948 World Series crown. By the mid-90s, the Indians built another championship-calibre team that won a pair of American League pennants, but fell short of winning it all. The club’s greatest chance of snapping their long-standing title drought came during the 2016 campaign when the Indians reached the World Series final, only to fall to the Chicago Cubs, who snapped a century-old title skid of their own.

Jim Thome played 12 seasons with the Indians and still holds the club record for home runs with 337 — a mark that will be difficult to top. Bob Feller spent his 20-year career with the Tribe and his 266 overall victories on the mound still stand as a franchise best.

How To Win at Cleveland Indians Betting

The Indians were criticized for not producing enough runs — an issue that many believe cost them the World Series in 2016.

Cleveland general manager Mike Cheroff addressed that need by inking slugger Edwin Encarnacion to a three-year deal, bringing the 40-plus home run hitter to Ohio.

Encarnacion, in his mid-30s, can still smash the long-ball and will be an integral part of Cleveland’s mission to return to the World Series.

Many believe the Boston Red Sox own the best starting rotation in baseball, but the Indians are right there. The lethal combination of Carlos Carrasco, Corey Kuber and Danny Salazar make the Indians a threat down the stretch. Josh Tomlin and Trevor Bauer around out one of the best rotations in the Big Leagues. In 2016, the group finished second in ERA with a 3.84 rating — only behind the Toronto Blue Jays.

Cleveland’s starters are more than capable of going 6-7 innings on a nightly basis, but they’re not pressured to with a shutdown bullpen that features setup man Andrew Miller and closer Cody Allen.

The Indians are built to win and built to win now.
