England (-132) Vs Slovakia (+517)

Roy Hodgson’s necessary substitutions in England’s 2-1 win over Wales saved the national team from an early exit at Euro 2016.

Hodgson will turn to those subs once again — forwards Daniel Sturridge and Jamie Vardy — as England looks to secure its place in the round of 16 when they wrap up Group B action against Slovakia on Monday.

Trailing 1-0 to Wales, Vardy tied the match before Sturridge put England up for good as England moved to the top of the group standings.

While Vardy will most likely be a substitute against Slovakia, Sturridge’s performance earned the Liverpool striker a starting role in the group finale.

Sturridge will likely replace Tottenham star Harry Kane, who struggled to find his form in the opening two matches. Raheem Sterling is also at risk of losing his starting job, but all signs point to Hodgson giving the Manchester City star another shot.

“I think all of our strikers need to be challenged,” Hodgson told

Bovada has England at +240 to win by a one-goal margin and a tempting +125 line to post a shutout. Although goalkeeper Joe Hart has struggled early on in the tournament, the Man City star regained his composure in the win over Wales after letting in a bad goal, which he apologized for.

“He felt he could have saved it so he apologized,” Hodgson added. “That’s football, these things happen. I’m pleased the team rallied.”

England is favored to score the match’s opening goal, as Bovada has Hodgson’s side at -190 to accomplish the feat. They’re also pegged at +325 by Bovada to net an opening marker in the first 10 minutes of the match. pegs Sturridge at +150 to score at any point of the match and +450 to net the game’s opening marker. Perhaps it’s also Wayne Rooney’s time to make a statement at the tournament.

The Manchester United star forward, who has 52 international goals to his name, has played well but has been kept off the scoresheet so far at Euro 2016. Rooney is also pegged at +150 to score in the match.

Slovakia is also battling for their Euro 2016 lives after dropping its opening match, but rebounding with a win over Russia. The Slovaks are deadlocked at three points with Wales heading into the final day of group action.

They’ll once again need Marek Hamsik to be at his best if Slovakia stands any chance of making it to the knockout rounds. Hamsik, who scored in Slovakia’s 2-1 win over Russia, is pegged at +400 by to net his club’s first goal. Adam Nemec, another offensive weapon for the Slovaks, is at +500 to pot the team’s opening tally. also has a -113 line that the match will produce less than 2.5 goals. The online sportsbook’s over line is set at +110. Both teams will be gunning for three points, which may open up the field and create a scoring spree.

With Sturridge in, England automatically becomes a stronger team up front. He will give the Slovakian defense more than it can handle. Look for England to take this one by a close margin to win its group and clinch a berth to the knockout stage.

Pick: England (-132)
