Monday NHL Playoff Over Under Bets
Take These Over/Unders On Monday
By Angelo Montilla
Here are a few NHL playoff betting options to consider for Monday night, with odds courtesy of Bovada.
Two games into the NHL playoffs and the Chicago Blackhawks — widely considered to be a favorite to win the Stanley Cup in 2017 — have yet to find the back of the net.
The Hawks can ill-afford to fall three games down in the best–of-seven series to a Nashville Predators team that is not to be underestimated, as the first two games show.
The Preds will play host to the Blackhawks on Monday night in Game 3 of their quarter-final series at Bridgestone Arena.
It’s puzzling as to why the Blackhawks — one the highest scoring teams in the NHL during the regular — have yet to net a goal through two games. Even Patrick Kane — the 2016 Hart Trophy winner — hasn’t netted a goal since March 27.
Not only have Nashville been responsible in its own zone, but the Preds are also finding much-needed scoring.
The projected total goals line for Monday’s match is set at 5. Five of the last 10 meetings between these Central Division rivals have produced under results. Expect the same outcome but the Blackhawks will finally wake up.
Pick: Chicago Blackhawks and the under (O/U: 5)
A series that was supposed to be a one-sided affair is turning into an epic matchup that could very well go the distance.
The underdog Maple Leafs return home with a split in Washington and will host the Capitals in Game 3 of their Eastern Conference quarter-final on Monday evening.
We should be in store for yet another wide-open game. The Leafs escaped Game 2 in a double-overtime thriller with both clubs combining for seven goals in the game.
Bovada has set a projected total goals line of 5.5. The last 10 meetings between the Caps and Leafs have been split down the middle with five over results and five under outcomes.
What can you expect for Monday? It will be a tight-checking game, which will result in a low-scoring affair. The Capitals will regain their series lead on the road.
Pick: Washington Capitals and the under (5.5)
Through two games between these Atlantic Division foes, the Senators and Bruins have provided hockey bettors exactly what they expected — a low-scoring series.
However a multitude of injuries on both sides may mean things will open up when the series continues for Game 3 in Boston on Monday night.
The Bruins are down four defensemen, including blue-liner Adam McQuaid, while the Senators have also lost key pieces on the back end.
Both the Senators and Bruins are both averaging 2.50 goals per game, while allowing the same number through two matches.
Bruins’ leading scorer Brad Marchand has one goal heading into Game 3 and is primed to have another breakout night at TD Garden.
With a total projection of 5, expect the Bruins and Sens to go over that mark on Monday.
Pick: Boston Bruins and the over (5)
The Anaheim Ducks have been too much for the Calgary Flames to handle through two games of their Western Conference quarter-final series.
The Ducks managed to squeeze out wins in the opening two contests and hold a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series heading into Game 3 Monday night in Calgary.
Anaheim is averaging three goals per game in the playoffs, while holding the Flames to two tallies so far in the post-season.
The Ducks have dominated in the faceoff circle, winning a league-leading 61 percent of the draws in this series. It’s led to many offensive chances for the Ducks, who can take a commanding lead in the series on Monday.
Bovada is offering bettors a total goal projection line of 5, but expect things to open up in Game 3, with the Ducks continuing their domination over the Flames.
Pick: Anaheim Ducks and the over (5)
