The MLS is split into an Eastern and Western conference. The Eastern Conference has some of MLS’ most famous teams in it, including D.C. United, and the New York Red Bulls. Some say that the Eastern Conference is the weaker of the two conferences, basing this thought on the fact Eastern teams have only won six of 20 MLS Cups played so far. D.C. United won the MLS Cup in 1996, 1997, 1999, and 2004, with Columbus Crew (2008), and Sporting Kansas City (2013) being the only other franchises to win.
In the early days of the MLS, when there were no draws and games were settled with overtime and penalties, D.C. United dominated the scene. D.C. have won the Eastern Conference six times, the last occasion being in 2014.
Both Columbus Crew and New York Red Bulls have won the Eastern Conference twice – Red Bulls won the Supporters’ Shield in 2015 – while Sporting Kansas City and New England Revolution have two divisional titles apiece.
Of all the current 10 teams in the Eastern Conference, New York Red Bulls are by far the most famous team thanks to their sponsorship by energy drink giants Red Bull.
Despite heavy investment from their sponsors, the Red Bulls are seen as the great underachievers of the MLS with only a runner-up finish in the 2008 MLS Cup, two Supporters’ Shields, and four Eastern Conference titles to their name; three of those have come since 2010.
The Eastern Conference is an open division, one that gives bettors ample opportunity to win big thanks to upsets being a regular occurrence.

How To Win At Eastern Conference Betting
Due to the large distances that have to be travelled to play away games, teams playing on home soil have a significant advantage.
In 2015, not a single team had a winning away record in the Eastern Conference, only New York Red Bulls and Columbus Crew (both 6-7-4) came close, yet only NYCFC didn’t have a winning home record.
This means you should tend to focus your betting on the home teams if you want to win at MLS Eastern Conference betting on a regular basis, and let’s face it, you do!
Bookmakers tend to give short-priced odds to the so-called “big name” teams even when they are on their travels, so look for some potential bargains of lesser fancied home teams as you could find yourself securing a large payday thanks to the longer, more attractive odds.
