Originally owned by the Disney Corporation, the Ducks were christened the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim when they joined the NHL as an expansion franchise in 1993, named for the 1992 Disney movie about a youth hockey team starring Emilio Estevez, a film that was so successful it spawned two sequels. The NHL Mighty Ducks weren’t a success story to start, at least not on the ice. They made the playoffs just twice and won a soitary playoff series in their first nine seasons before making a shocking run to the Stanley Cup final in 2002-03.
Three years later, the team was renamed the Anaheim Ducks and the next season after that the Ducks turned in a mighty successful performance, winning the Stanley Cup.
There are NHL teams that dream of the day when they could brag of winning four successive division crowns, as the Anaheim Ducks did between 2012-13 and 2015-16. Other clubs would be thrilled to say that they were the top seed in their conference, as the Ducks were in 2013-14 and 2014-15. Anaheim’s three straight 100-point seasons from 2013-14 through 2015-16 are also nothing to sneeze at. It would all combine to paint a wonderfully rosy picture of success, if only no one were to ask the Ducks about the Stanley Cup playoffs.
That’s where the outlook turns to disaster. During that four-year run of divisional success, everything has blown up spectacularly in Anaheim’s face during the postseason. Four straight springs, the Ducks were eliminated from the playoffs via a Game 7 loss on home ice. To make matters worse, the Ducks led all four series by a 3-2 margins before capitulating.

How To Win At Anaheim Ducks Betting
There is one absolute certainty that’s been true about the Ducks since the start of the 2011-12 NHL season and that’s the fact that you can pencil center Andrew Cogliano into the Anaheim lineup. Coglaino ended the 2015-16 campaign as the NHL’s active iron man.
He’s never missed a single game during his nine NHL seasons and had played in 704 conscecutive NHL games between 2007-16.
That’s the seventh-longest streak in NHL history and the second-longest streak of games played by a player from the start of his NHL career. Only Doug Jarvis, the NHL record-holder for consecutive games played, who played the first 964 games of his NHL career, stands ahead of Cogliano in the latter category.
In John Gibson and Frederik Andersen, the Ducks suit up a sensational 1-2 punch between the pipes, a duo that combined in 2015-16 to earn the Jennings Trophy by posting the NHL’s lowest goals-against average, the first time the Ducks had ever won the award.
Still considered a rookie in 2015-16 even though he was participating in his third NHL season, talk about a consistent bet – Gibson tied for second in the NHL with a 2.07 GAA.
Gibson posted a .920 save percentage, barely ahead of Andersen (.919). Gibson set franchise records for rookie goaltenders in games played (40), wins (21), GAA (2.07) and shutouts (four). Andersen limited the opposition to two goals or less in 29 of his 43 appearances and ranked second among NHL goaltenders with a 2.06 GAA.
