Best Tampa Bay Lightning Betting Sites

They can roll forward line after forward line at the opposition with the capability to create, to score and to check you to a standstill. The defense is also a mix of skill, tenacity and physicality and it seems like all of them tower well over six feet tall. In net, both of their goalies are also skayscrapers and in Ben Bishop, they suit up a 6-7 Vezina Trophy contender. There’s little not to like about the Tampa Bay Lightning, who’ve rapidly evolved into one of the best teams in both the Eastern Conference as well the entire NHL. [+]

Since the majoiriy of the team’s key players are still under the age of 30, the bad news for the rest of their Atlantic Division competition is that Tampa Bay isn’t going away anytime soon.

When he was hired as general manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning after spending over a quarter century with the Detroit Red Wings, first as a player and then as the team’s assistant GM, Steve Yzerman brought much of the Detroit philosophy for player development with him to Florida.

He allowed the vast majority of the current core of his hockey team to grow and mature as pros together in the minor leagues, players like forwards Tyler Johnson, Ondrej Palat and Nikita Kucherov, and defenseman Andrej Sustr, and that group won an AHL Calder Cup title together before coming up to the big club and quickly playing starring roles for the Lightning.

Tampa Bay Lightning Betting Lines Today

Depth is a key element to the success of the Tampa Bay Lightning. During the 2014-15 NHL season, the Lightning finished with two 20-goal scorers and five players with at least 50 points. [+]

In 2015-16, Tampa Bay suited up a pair of 30-goal scorers, nine players who scored at least 10 goals and five players who collected a minimum of 40 points and that group did not include left-winger Jonathan Drouin, who sat out much of the year in a dispute over ice time, but returned toward the end of the regular season and was among Tampa Bay’s most dangerous forwards during the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Tampa Bay Lightning Scores & Schedule

The Tampa Bay Lightning game scores and schedule are listed here and the Lightning have quickly established an Atlantic Division rivalry with the Detroit Red Wings. [+]

Games between the two teams are always hotly contested, both in terms of skill level and intensity. The fact that the Lightning have eliminated the Red Wings in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs has only served to heat things up even further between the two teams.

It also doesn’t hurt that former Detroit captain and assistant general manager Steve Yzerman now runs the Lightning, so after learning the ways of the Wings for more than two decades, Stevie Y the student is now implementing that successful formula to enjoy success against the team that taught him how to get it done.

Tampa Bay Lightning Standings Right Now

This is where you will find the Lighting standing for both the Atlantic Division and the overall NHL picture and generally, you won’t have to look far down either list to locate the Lightning. [+]

This is one of the NHL’s elite teams and a club that figures to be among that group for quite a few years to come. The lineup that began the 2015-16 season for the Lightning included just two players over the age of 30 and 11 regulars who were 25 years of age or younger.

With such a young core, expect the Lightning to remain in the argument when determining who the legitimate Stanley Cup contenders are for the next several seasons. Depth is what wins championships and the Lightning are loaded from top to bottom.

How To Win At Tampa Bay Lightning Betting

There are many elements that go into the assembly of a championship contender, but in general, teams don’t win the Stanley Cup without a stud blueliner to anchor their defense, a guy like Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman.

He might not get the attention of the press clippings of a Shea Weber or Drew Doughty, but Hedman covers all the bases when it comes to the qualities contained within an elite defender.

He is mobile, can skate the like the wind and readily joins the rush. His point shot is hard and accurate, his passes go tape to tape. Without the puck, At 6-6 and 223 pounds, getting around Hedman is a chore and with his elongated reach, he’ll simply knock the puck away from an attacker with the greatest of ease. Should you need him to play 30 minutes a night, he’ll do that. And if you’re into fancy stats, Hedman’s analytics are off the charts.

If you’re looking for the reason why the Tampa Bay Lightning didn’t immediately back up a Brinks truck to Steven Stamkos’ front door in a rush to get their captain’s name on a new contact before he became an unrestricted free agent, look no further than Nikita Kucherov.

Armed with a powerful shot and a lightning-fast release, as well as an explosive skating stride that allows him to get past defenders on the outside, and deft one-on-one moves to beat them inside, Kucherov is among the NHL’s best finishers. And hockey people in the Tampa Bay organization are of the belief that in the long-run, he will develop into a better all-round 200-foot player than Stamkos ever will be.

The proof of that opinion seems to be in the pudding. When Tampa Bay reached the Stanley Cup final in 2014-15, it was the dynamic duo of Kucherov and linemate Tyler Johnson who led the way while Stamkos slumbered throught the postseason. And in 2015-16, as the Lightning engaged in another playoff run, Stamkos was on the shelf injured while Johnson and Kucherov ran rampant through the opposition.
