The Redskins may be one of the biggest names in NFL history, but after winning the NFC East in 2015, will still need to improve to make the 2016 season one to remember. With two NFL championships and three Super Bowls in a decade (1982, 1987 & 1991), the Washington Redskins have played 1,000 games in the NFL since the age of prohibition, and are one of only five teams to have won 600 games in the regular season and postseason combined. They’re the third most valuable NFL franchise behind the Dallas Cowboys (who they share a division with in the NFC East) and New England Patriots.
Their name has been a controversial one, with lawsuits being filed by Native American groups. So far, however, those lawsuits haven’t been successful and The Redskins have enjoyed the freedom to make recent moves towards a new stadium, which will be built soon.
The Redskins have won the NFC East just three times in 24 years, two of those wins came in 2012 and 2015, during a period of managerial and personnel change. If anything, the Redskins of recent seasons have proved their resilience to change and to produce major talent. In Kirk Cousins they have a real asset, one of the main reasons the Redskins won the NFC East last year.
Can the Washington Redskins win their first Super Bowl in 25 years in 2016? The statistics back up the long odds, with The Redskins at +4000 from the beginning of the season. They may not be one of the favorites, but anything can happen in the NFL.

How To Win At Washington Redskins Betting
Washington Redskins were largely unfancied in 2015/16, and despite that, managed to top what was a tight NFC East division. In fact, no-one has won back-to back NFC East division titles since 2004, so the Redskins would be aiming to make history this season.
sbMost of The Redskins success came courtesy of Kirk Cousins’ arm, as the quarterback time and again got his team out of trouble with willing runners to meet his laser-like throws. Despite winning last season’s title, The Redskins start at +350 long shots to top the NFC East this time around, with both Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants arguably strengthening better than the team from the capital.
The Giants in particular signed DL Olivier Vernon and CB Janoris Jenkins in an attempt to sew up their leaky defense. If that happens, then their odds of +240 look kinder than Dallas(+150). The Cowboys did not have the offense to trouble The Redskins in 2015/16, and they will be heavily reliant on Tony Romo and Dez Bryant maintaining a level of fitness they couldn’t muster in the previous 12 months.
We don’t discount the Philadelphia Eagles (+400), but they simply don’t have anyone of Cousins’ caliber to load the bullets and we wouldn’t put anyone off the Redskins at +350 to finally end that run and win back-to-back NFC East titles. If they can pull it off, they’ll be hoping to go further than last year in the postseason, where they succumbed fairly meekly to the Green Bay Packers.
The Redskins are +4000 to win their first Superbowl since 1991 and with the unwanted 25-year anniversary coming round very quickly. They’ll be desperate to fulfill their fans’ dreams. But while they can rely on Cousins to out-perform most quarterbacks and post touchdowns from deep runs all over the field, we are not sure they can quite achieve the consistency required in postseason to go all the way.
The Redskins had a decent 2015-16 season, however, and confounded many pundits’ negative pre-season views. While not a vintage year in terms of eventual Super Bowl success, the Redskins had plenty of highlights at home and on the road:
Kirk Cousins was the Washington Redskins main weapon, with the quarterback on fire all season. At times he threw like he had a golden arm, with many touchdowns coming because of his incisive throws, often late in the game. ‘You like that?’ as Kirk might say!
