Best Dallas Cowboys Betting Sites

As one of the most dominant teams of the last 10 years, the Cowboys have hit a crossroads. During the 2015-16 season, stars Tony Romo (shoulder) and Dez Bryant (stress fracture) both suffered injuries that shut down significant portions of their seasons. Dallas also lost running back DeMarco Murray in the prior off-season and have not been able to find a replacement for the departed star. So the combination of their three stars missing time ultimately added up to the Cowboys finishing the year with a 4-12 record. [+]

This record is the worst the team has suffered since Jerry Jones took over the team in 1989.

While the overall mark was obviously a disappointment in the eyes of Cowboys fans everywhere, there is a lot of reason to be optimistic about this year.

Dallas retains its star-studded offensive line which features three All-Pros (center Travis Frederick, guard Zack Martin and tackle Tyron Smith). Additionally, Dallas had two other players that made the Pro Bowl in linebacker Sean Lee and kicker Dan Bailey.

Another big upgrade for the Cowboys was the draft selection of All-American running back Ezekiel Elliott in the first round of the 2016 draft. Elliott will have to be confident and on top form as he is about to face much tougher competition in the NFC East than he did at Ohio State.

If Romo can stay healthy at the age of 36, then the Cowboys have a decent chance of returning to the top of a lackluster division.

However, if the quarterback struggles then so will the team. The offensive line can only do so much to protect the signal caller, but the quarterback’s advanced age might signal his swan song season is soon approaching.

Another element of the season to look out for is whether Bryant can return to his form as one of the most dangerous wide receivers in the game. The addition of former Oakland Raider Brice Butler helps to complement on the outside, but Bryant will be relied on more heavily than ever given the aging decline of future Hall of Fame tight end Jason Witten.

How To Win At Dallas Cowboys Betting

Similiar to the offense, the strength of the Dallas defense lies in its front seven. The Cowboys feature a formidable linebacking corps headlined by Lee and former Oakland Raider and Alabama standout Rolando McClain.

The team also selected former Notre Dame and Butkus Award winner Jaylon Smith in the second road of this year’s draft. Though many teams had pegged Smith as a potential top-10 selection, the linebacker tore his ACL during the Fighting Irish’s bowl game. Doctors have pegged Smith to be out for some time but he has the potential to return in 2016, though it remains to be seen if he can recover from such a serious injury.

The Cowboys feature a decent amount of depth along the defensive line but are pretty green in terms of their experience.

Defensive ends Randy Gregory and DeMarcus Lawrence are former college standouts but both are fairly young players and haven’t quite found their rhythm yet. The secondary is another unit that has some question marks but has the potential to make some big-time strides in 2016 with the re-signing of cornerback Orlando Scandrick and the potential of former first-round pick Morris Claiborne. Claiborne has been inconsistent thus far in his NFL career to has to realize his potential for the Cowboys to have a realistic shot at taking advantage of the lackluster NFC East.

In terms of where Dallas finished in the division, the Cowboys were last but have the ability to go from worst to first. The Redskins won the East with a 9-7 record but every other team had a losing mark which leaves the door open for a team like Dallas to take advantage. Injuries are the biggest factor in whether or not Dallas can make a return to the top.
